1] i think the plan works best, as you say, when its the same cadre of writers pushed to extremes - this, for me, helps eviscerate classical notions of identity, mind and language a la Burroughs

i've also thought that the same writers should be doing the coding prompts as well as chunking - so mebbe, if the coding demands to much from the non-coders, some of the group can take this on, and the others might well be involved in describing some operations - taking the longer 15min chunks scheduled between the 6 min and yep, cut-up techniques to the fore!

One possibility is to have a coding session once per day where new chunking algorithms are developed. It would proceed similarly to the writing sessions except that the process would be one of revision rather than serial progression (although that might be interesting too). We would need to keep the old chunking functions around though. The mixing algorithms may be simple random selection of chunks (current) or use statistics or grammar based natural language processing techniques for more finely grained montage.

Key will be to determine how we write (or appropriate) the prompts before we begin.

2] participants so far:

brendan howell [DE], sabrina small [US], jonathan kemp [UK], leif elggren [SWE], stewart home [UK]

maybe an upper limit of 9 - think the working space at E:vnt probably wouldn't comfortably hold more also need more women (2+ would be good) also need more coders (minimum 3 including brendan)

3] technically i'm thinking about whats needed now for the funding app. is in terms of the space three small projections - code, chunking, prompts - is all we really need [apart from sundries, sustenance et al]

then there is the idea w. Mute to have a POD station to output text [including prompts and code] on the last day at least in a rough edition - equipment here would be pc, good laserjet printer, guillotine, binder, but all to be quantified [quality etc] and sourced - this needs a bit more thought. One nice possibility here is a line printer that constantly spits out text. We will probably need some manpower to help if we do a DIY hand-bound POD. A fancy copier or industrial office laser printer might work, as they have automatic collation and binding and some do double sided printing.

Maybe a big old CRT outside the building showing chunks of text in process. Computer robot reader using Text to Speech?

for the last night's launch there is PA equipment available for any performance-centred activities. Might be nice to have a DJ or some music as well for the party later.

4] the launch: whether we schedule performances/readings from within weeks thematic: eg. leif performance, stewart home tape detournment

for the app. I can again nominate certain events taking place without too much detail - but guess need to talk to you and leif, stewart, and whoever else is invited about what they may or may not do for the last night

5] hotel

v. close to Event Gallery and cheap [around £40/night] http://www.travelstay.com/pages/CityInnExpress.htm
